Organizing the Adirondack All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory

Organizing the Adirondack All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory

Portfolio Description

We coordinated the Adirondack All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) BioBlitzes with Paul Smith’s College and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Our task is to bring the region’s naturalist community together to documents biodiversity across the Adirondack Park and enhance collaborations across the state.

We coordinated three BioBlitzes across the Adirondack Park and worked with faculty at SUNY ESF and Paul Smith’s College to coordinate naturalists and researchers. Our efforts included press releases, media interviews, blog posts, and event coordination.

The Adirondack ATBI iNaturalist group now has over 6,000 species observations from around the park. These observations are not only from the past seven years of BioBlitzes, but also comprise organic observations made by naturalists all over the park.
