Connor Vara
AIS Field Assistant
Connor grew up in a small town south of Buffalo, NY, in Silver Creek. His passion for wildlife and nature led his decision to go to Paul Smith’s College in the Adirondacks and major in Wildlife Sciences. As a student at Paul Smith’s, he learned about wildlife conservation as well as caring for natural ecosystems that drive wildlife populations and influence their movements. He developed a passion for avian conservation, monitoring and surveying their populations. Since he graduated in 2017, he has been all over the country studying and working with various groups of birds ranging from songbirds, owls, hawks, and waterfowl. He also has an interest in the Adirondacks and the beauty the Park holds and spent the past three summers working for Adirondack Watershed Institute, protecting lakes from aquatic invasive species.
