Job Description
We are looking for a full-time assistant to help with trapping for the Asian longhorned beetle in the Worcester, MA area.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with trap checking
- Data collection
- Preparing and reading maps
- Interacting with land/homeowners
- Driving
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Background in biology is desirable, but not required.
- Interest in entomology
- Ability to work long hours on some days
- Ability to lift a ladder
Wage and Hours
Wages are $10/hour and a vehicle will be provided. Dates of employment are somewhat flexible but are approximately June 1 to September 30; some weeks will be over 40 hours/week while other weeks will be less with days off during some weeks, balancing out to an average of 40 hours/week.
Employer
The Hoover Lab at Penn State University in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service from Hamden, CT and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation Resources. Applicants local to the Worcester, MA area preferred.
