Data Entry Assistant (6-10 HRS/WEEK – 1 POSITION)

The Center for Adirondack Biodiversity in collaboration with Adirondack Research (www.adkres.org)  is accepting applications for data entry assistance during the 2014-2015 academic year.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The data entry assistant adds data from the Adirondack All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) into online, open source repositories including iNaturalist and eBird. The goal of this project is to transfer all of the ATBI data into shareable and publicly accessible databases. The ideal candidate will have previous experience entering and sorting data in Microsoft Excel. Experience with online apps is essential and experience using online databases or other web-based information hubs is a plus. Candidates should be enthusiastic and organized. Preference will be given to students studying natural resources or a similar field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer and typing skills; must be able to use  Microsoft Excel at a moderate to high proficiency
  • Experience with web-based apps like Facebook, Pinterest, or Flickr
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Must be available for a minimum of two shifts per week (although specific times can be determined based on class schedule)
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize and fix mistakes
