Entomology Field Intern, Lake Placid, NY

Job Description
We are looking for a part-time naturalist intern to help with insect field collection, phenology surveys, insect sorting, and preliminary identification. This project is part of a baseline biological inventory for Interval Lowlands Preserve (www.intervalelowlands.org) in Lake Placid, NY.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with trap checking
  • Data collection
  • Sorting and labeling insects
  • Preparing signs and trail maps

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Background in biology with interest in entomology
  • Ability to work outside
  • Knowledge of general plants and animals

 

Wage and Hours

Wages are $12/hour. Dates of employment are somewhat flexible but are approximately May 10 to August 25. Number of hours per week is about 20, with more possible if candidates have interest or experience with insect identification.

Adirondack Research Inc. in collaboration with Intervale Lowlands Preserve. Fieldwork is based at the preserve in Lake Placid, NY.
